About this board game

Anno Domini: Frauen is a social card game for 2–8 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. It challenges players to arrange historical events related to women in chronological order—often without knowing the exact years.

The set contains 340 cards. Each card presents a description of a historical event on one side and the year, sometimes including a specific date, on the other. Players receive nine cards each, or fewer for a shorter game, and may look only at the descriptions.

On your turn, add one card to the growing timeline, placing it where you believe it belongs. You do not need perfect historical knowledge: bluffing, judgment, and confidence are just as important as knowing the answer. Since many events are obscure or difficult to date precisely, every decision can bring a surprise.

• Place historical event cards in chronological order.
• Challenge the timeline when you think the order is incorrect.
• Reveal the years to settle the dispute.
• Be the first player to get rid of all your cards.

If a challenge is made and the timeline is correct, the doubting player takes two cards and skips a turn. If the order is wrong, the previous player—the one who accepted the timeline—takes three cards instead. This creates a lively balance of risk, persuasion, and historical discovery.
