About this board game
Anno Domini: Kunst is a 30-minute historical card game for 2–8 players, challenging you to arrange events related to art in chronological order.
The set contains 340 cards, each describing a historical event on one side and showing the year, or sometimes the specific date, on the other. Players receive nine cards, or fewer for a shorter game, and may look only at the descriptions. The aim is to play all your cards by placing them into the growing timeline in the order you believe is correct.
On your turn, you can add a card—or question whether the existing order is accurate. When a challenge is made, all cards are turned over and the dates are revealed. If the timeline was correct, the doubting player takes two cards and skips a turn. If it was wrong, the previous player, who accepted the order, receives three cards.
- Chronological deduction: Judge where each art-related event belongs without seeing its date.
- Bluffing and doubt: Decide when to trust the timeline and when to challenge it.
- Flexible play: Use fewer cards for a shorter game, or combine this set with other Anno Domini sets.
Knowledge helps, but exact dates can be obscure, making confidence and bluffing just as important. The result is a social game full of surprises, lighthearted uncertainty, and opportunities to learn something along the way.
Anno Domini: Kunst can be played on its own or combined with other sets, which is described as the best way to play. There is no English edition; the cards are in German, offering a way to improve existing German skills or a reason to begin learning the language.
