About this board game

Aqua Mirabilis is a board game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes, in which you become a perfumer seeking prestige at the Court of Versailles.

Your work begins with flowers. Through different production methods, transform their fragrances into scents, then combine them with essential oils, fixatives, and solvents to complete perfume recipes. The available flowers include:

• Bergamot
• Jasmine
• Lavender
• Narcissus
• Rose

Mastering perfumery is only part of the challenge. You must also develop your knowledge and learn new techniques by studying and traveling. In the game, this progress is represented by acquiring apprenticeship tiles and city tiles, each offering unique benefits to its owner.

Life at court brings another layer of competition. Nurture your social position among the nobles and seek influence with the King and his Court through the intercession of powerful Ladies whom you must properly court and seduce. The glittering world of Versailles blends social ambition with the art of fragrance.

When perfumes are presented to the King and the Court, they earn prestige points according to how fashionable and original they are. In Aqua Mirabilis, the player who gains the most prestige points by the end of the game wins. First released in 2019, it combines flower processing, perfume creation, learning, travel, and courtly influence in a contest to delight royalty.
