About this board game

Arcane Legions is a 2–6 player tabletop battle game with an average play time of 120 minutes, set in a world transformed by a sudden magical cataclysm.

In 42BCE, an otherworldly shockwave spreads from the Middle East, infusing humanity, animals, and the land with uncontrolled magic. Five years later, Egyptians, Romans, and the Han Dynasty have harnessed this power, sending their arcane legions into a struggle to control humanity’s fate.

Each player fields units on bases of different sizes: small Sortie bases and large Formation bases. Individual figures are inserted into starting positions on these bases, creating a distinctive formation-management system at the heart of play.

During movement and battle resolution, you can rearrange figures within a unit to emphasize different capabilities. Increasing movement, melee combat, or ranged combat comes at the cost of weakening the other areas, making formation choices central to each engagement.

• Control victory-point areas while inflicting losses on opposing forces.
• Field three initial factions: Egyptians, Romans, and the Han Dynasty.
• Use highly detailed true 25mm PVC figures, including unpainted common figures and fully pre-painted premium figures.
• Build forces with formation bases, sortie bases, base cards, army packs, cavalry packs, and booster packs.

The Starter Pack includes small armies for all three factions and enough bases and base cards for a complete two-player game. Army Packs contain common soldiers, Cavalry Packs provide mounted figures, and Booster Packs add leaders, special figures, associated cards, and additional formation base cards.
