About this board game

Archaeology is a quick, addictive treasure-hunting game for 2–4 players, with play lasting around 20 minutes. Take on the role of an archaeologist discovering ancient artifacts and seeking the right pieces to restore forgotten valuables.

Search for fragments of torn parchments, broken stone tablets, and other long-lost treasures. As your collection grows, use the local marketplace to make shrewd trades and increase the value of what you have discovered.

Timing matters when you sell your treasures to the museum. Choose the right moment to turn your finds into maximum profit, while staying alert for opportunities and dangers around the dig site.

Fortune may also place an ancient chest in your path. To claim the chest’s big haul, you will need to find the right keys. Meanwhile, cunning thieves can steal a prize discovery, adding another risk to every expedition.

  • For 2–4 players
  • Approximately 20 minutes of play
  • 93 satin-finish cards
  • 40 money tokens
  • Playing board, card box, and rules booklet

First published in 2007 by Phil Harding’s one-man design house, Adventureland Games, Archaeology is currently out of print. Its treasure-hunting concept was later re-implemented by Archaeology: The Card Game.
