About this board game

Arctica is a competitive, card-driven engine-building Eurogame for 1–4 players, with games lasting around 90 minutes. Set around the development of Arctic ecosystems, it focuses especially on the fauna that makes these environments viable.

Your goal is to build a viable ecosystem while developing your animal population. With more than 160 animals featured in the game, Arctica offers a broad range of fauna to include in your growing ecosystem.

Cards drive the experience, while the engine-building format centers your progress on developing the ecosystem over the course of the game. Every part of your development contributes toward the larger objective: creating an Arctic ecosystem with strong biodiversity.

Arctica combines the structured development of an engine-building game with the theme of Arctic ecosystem creation. The result is a focused competition in which your ecosystem is measured not simply by its existence, but by the biodiversity it achieves.

At the end of the game, players compare their biodiversity scores. The player with the highest biodiversity score wins, making the successful development of a rich and viable ecosystem the key to victory.
