About this board game
Arena: Morituri te salutant is a tactical combat game for 2–5 players that plays in about 30 minutes. Choose one or two characters and face your opponents in a battle of calculated attacks, defenses, and deception.
The objective is simple: reduce your opponents’ Condition Points to zero. In the multiplayer variant, some players can cooperate to achieve victory, adding a different challenge to the head-to-head combat.
Rather than rolling a die, the attacking player chooses a value from 1 to 6, depending on the attack type. Some attacks may have a lower range. The defender then tries to determine what value the opponent selected by using a limited number of guesses.
Your active combat card determines the number of attacks available. Defense cards provide more guesses, but deal less attack damage, creating an important trade-off between caution and aggression. Higher attack values cause greater damage, but repeatedly choosing the highest value makes the attack easier to penetrate.
- Choose cards and arrange their order from your character’s deck.
- Select attack values instead of relying on die rolls.
- Outguess opponents as they try to identify your attack.
- Balance damage potential against defensive opportunities.
Success in Arena: Morituri te salutant comes from reading your opponent while managing the sequence of cards you have prepared. Every choice can reveal a pattern, invite a guess, or open an opportunity for a stronger strike, making each short battle a contest of timing and prediction.
