Arigatō

About this board game

Arigatō is a strategic, competitive card game for 1–5 players, playable in about 45 minutes, in which you lead a village preparing offerings for the Shogun’s birthday.

With only twelve days until the celebration, gather your best artisans and combine their abilities to earn favor. Each round is played simultaneously and consists of three distinct phases: Dawn, Day, and Dusk.

• Dawn: Secretly assign roles to the five artisans in your hand: one resident, two travelers, and two crafters.
• Day: Reveal your artisans, collect the objects provided by producer artisans, and trigger resident effects when applicable. Manage your objects while gathering what your residents require to prepare offerings.
• Dusk: Check whether you have fulfilled the Shogun’s whims for the day and earn additional favors.

The simultaneous structure keeps every round focused on planning and timing. Your choices at Dawn shape what you can accomplish during the Day, while your collected objects and artisan effects determine whether you can satisfy the day’s demands.

Favor is the key to victory in Arigatō. You can earn it through offerings, effects, and objectives, rewarding players who carefully coordinate their artisans and resources across the full twelve-round game.

When the twelfth round ends, the player with the most favors wins. Whether you are arranging roles, preparing offerings, or pursuing objectives, every day brings another opportunity to gain the Shogun’s approval.
