About this board game

Arkham Investigator is a Lovecraftian storytelling and mystery game for 1–10 players, with investigations designed to take around 120 minutes. Set in H.P. Lovecraft’s Arkham during the 1920s, it challenges you to uncover sinister mysteries by following a trail of clues through the city.

Your investigation uses a provided newspaper, a list of allies, the directory of Arkham residents, and a map of Arkham. Move from location to location and suspect to suspect, piecing together information until you can answer the questions posed at the end of each scenario.

This is not a typical board game. There are no dice and no luck; success depends on your ability to interpret the evidence and make sound decisions. Your final score reflects the number of clue points needed to visit, the risks you took with your sanity, and how accurately you answered the case questions.

When your investigation is complete, compare your result with Armitage’s final score—the benchmark set by a man exposed to the sanity-blasting truth of an age-old evil. Arkham Investigator also invites you to collaborate with Armitage’s investigations as part of your training.

The planned print-edition cases include:

  • A Grain of Evil
  • The King Cometh
  • The Serpent’s Vengeance
  • The Slumbering Solace
  • The Vanished Girl
  • The Liber Mortis
  • The Faceless Expedition
  • A Stalker in the Shadows

Two additional cases were in development, with their eventual release planned for either the printed box set or as promotional cases. Cases 1 and 2 were also offered as print-and-play investigations.
