About this board game

Arkham Noir: Case #1 – The Witch Cult Murders is a solitaire card game for 1 player, with an approximately 30-minute playing time. Reimagining H. P. Lovecraft’s interconnected stories as a noir investigation, it places you in the role of private investigator Howard Lovecraft.

Walpurgis Night has brought fresh terror to witch-haunted Arkham. Students from Miskatonic University who were studying the occult have been found dead, and the Arkham Police need your unusual expertise before the trail grows cold and the culprits disappear into the shadows.

Gameplay centers on adding clue cards to open cases and forming lines of investigation. Each new shuffle creates a unique challenge as you work to connect the evidence and uncover the wider story.

  • Investigate events inspired by The Dreams in the Witch House, The Thing on the Doorstep, and The Unnamable.
  • Collect five different clue cards with the Puzzle attribute to piece together the big picture.
  • Manage the investigation before time runs out or your mental stability is lost.

Success depends on building the right evidence across the cases while responding to the pressure of a mystery that will not wait. The objective is not simply to gather clues, but to assemble the five Puzzle clues that reveal the overall perspective on the events.

With adjustable difficulty levels, Arkham Noir offers a challenge that can accommodate different levels of player experience. Each case in the series stands alone, and this first case delivers a compact solo mystery steeped in occult danger, noir atmosphere, and Lovecraftian connections.
