About this expansion

Arkwright: Noblesse Oblige is a 2016 board game addition for 2–4 players, with an approximate play time of 240 minutes. It introduces a luxury goods market and four purveyor development tiles to the Arkwright experience.

The set includes one luxury goods market mat and four purveyor development tiles, with one tile for each type of good. These components support an additional sales opportunity during the production and sale phase.

At the beginning of each round, place one good cube on every space in the luxury goods market belonging to the current technology level and all previous technology levels. Food does not receive a luxury good in stage 1.

  • One luxury goods market mat
  • Four purveyor development tiles, one per type of good
  • Good cubes added at the start of each round
  • A reputation-based order for luxury-market sales

Just before the domestic selling step, players have the opportunity to sell in the luxury goods market for the active goods. The player with the highest reputation acts first, followed by the other players according to reputation order.

The sale is voluntary. When a player chooses not to sell on their turn, they pass for the remainder of this step completely. That player also returns the machine token from their price track to the supply.

By adding a distinct market step before domestic selling, Arkwright: Noblesse Oblige gives players a defined moment to pursue luxury-market sales while managing reputation order, available goods, and the consequences of passing.
