About this board game

Armadillo is a fast dice-and-card game for 2–6 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Across three rounds, race to get rid of your cards by combining luck with smart choices about which dice to roll.

Each player begins with ten cards, randomly numbered from 1 to 20, and two chips. On your turn, choose any combination of the six dice and roll them. The two blue dice show numbers from 1 to 3, the two yellow dice show 4 to 6, and the two red dice show 7 to 9.

Check whether the total of your rolled dice matches a number on one of your cards. If it does, discard that card—and every other player discards a card with the same number as well. You can also spend chips to raise or lower the rolled number, giving you more control over your results.

  • Choose which of six dice to roll each turn.
  • Match rolled totals to numbered cards.
  • Spend chips to adjust a result or use four chips to discard any card.
  • Gain a chip whenever you fail to discard a card on your turn.

The round ends as soon as one player empties their hand. Everyone else scores one point for each card remaining in their hand, so holding fewer cards is crucial even when you cannot finish first. After three rounds, the player with the fewest points wins.

With shared card discards, flexible dice selection, and chips that can rescue an awkward hand, Armadillo creates a compact contest of risk, timing, and resource management.
