About this board game
Armorica is a challenging card-drafting game for 2–4 players, with a playing time of about 30 minutes. Set in 100 AD, it places players in the Celtic nation of Armorica, or Brittany, after its conquest by the Roman Empire.
As administrators of the province, players seek to increase their prestige by attracting wealthy Roman immigrants. Roman patricians have expensive tastes, however, so Armorica requires considerable development before it can become appealing to them.
Each turn, players select cards from face-up displays and add them to their personal tableaus. Success depends not only on the cards currently available, but also on anticipating which choices opponents are likely to make.
- Draft from face-up displays and add selected cards to your tableau.
- Develop your tableau to improve the range of cards you can select.
- Manage your card capacity, as tableau icons allow you to retain more cards.
- Build victory-point sources through the different icons in your personal tableau.
The icons in each tableau provide several important benefits. They can expand the range of available cards, increase the number of cards a player may retain, and offer different sources of victory points.
Part of Vainglorious Games’ Celtic Nations series, Armorica combines a Roman-era setting with demanding drafting decisions. Released in 2010, Armorica challenges players to develop a conquered province while reading the intentions of their opponents and pursuing prestige through their tableau.
