About this board game
Art of War: The Card Game is a two-player card game with a 15-minute play time, combining warfare, kingdom-building, and strategic deck construction.
Take the role of a king and guide your growing kingdom while sending warriors onto the battlefield. You must fight your opponent’s forces while increasing the people of your own kingdom, balancing military pressure with the development of your realm.
Each player has a KING card representing themselves, supported by a deck built from only five other card types. This focused card pool gives the game a distinctive structure as you shape your deck and prepare to face the opposing kingdom.
- Two-player conflict: Compete directly against another king.
- Kingdom-building theme: Grow your people while waging war.
- Five card types: Build your deck beneath your personal KING card.
- Distinctive systems: Use logistics support, conscription, and entry.
- Four endings: Pursue different story conclusions and winning paths.
Its combination of logistics support, conscription, and entry creates a tightly connected strategic experience. The game’s four different story endings add depth, encouraging players to stay alert and search for the many ways a battle and kingdom can conclude.
Originally developed from an idea by Mr. Asao of the doujinshop Nyangoroberry, Art of War: The Card Game was produced for the international market, alongside a Japanese edition and related doujin versions featuring different artists. Released in 2015, it offers a focused duel where every decision contributes to the struggle for victory.
