About this board game

Asante is a two-player marketplace game with an approximately 40-minute play time, set in the African world of Jambo and Waka Waka.

Players take the roles of African merchants competing to make the most money possible. During market day, they buy and sell a variety of goods while looking for opportunities to improve their deals and hinder their opponent.

• Trade furs, silk, jewelry, fruits, tea, and salt.
• Meet individuals who provide special abilities and enable deals that would not otherwise be available.
• Visit one of fifteen holy sites to use its special power alongside your normal five actions.
• Let animals loose on your opponent’s stand to cause trouble in the marketplace.

The game combines commercial activity with encounters and special locations. Every market day offers merchants the chance to make profitable trades, call on helpful individuals, and use the powers available at holy sites.

Asante was designed by Rüdiger Dorn and illustrated by Michael Menzel, the same designer and artist associated with Jambo and Waka Waka. Its setting brings the three games together through a shared world of African trade and bustling market stalls.

For an even busier marketplace, Asante can be played together with Jambo or its expansions. Released in 2013, it offers a focused trading experience specifically designed for two players.
