About this board game

Ascension: Immortal Heroes is a deck-building game for 1–2 players, with games lasting around 30 minutes. It is both a supplement to Ascension: Storm of Souls and a stand-alone two-player game.

As the second set in the series, Immortal Heroes completes the Storm of Souls story arc. Players seek to stop the rebel godling Kythis from fueling his mad ascent to godhood, using the power of heroes from the past.

At the heart of the game are new Soul Gem cards, which represent the trapped souls of heroes from earlier times. These cards give the setting its central theme as players work to turn the power of the past toward the struggle against Kythis.

Like other Ascension titles, the game uses a shared central pool of cards. Players acquire cards from this pool and add them to their decks, building the resources they will use later in the game.

  • Build a deck by acquiring cards from a central pool.
  • Combat creatures and other things that appear in the shared space.
  • Earn points from both cards acquired and creatures defeated.
  • Use new Soul Gem cards to wield the power of past heroes.

The shared card space gives players opportunities to improve their decks while also presenting targets to combat. Every acquired card and defeated creature contributes points, connecting deck development and confrontation to the final result.

Whether used as a companion to Storm of Souls or played on its own by two players, Ascension: Immortal Heroes offers a focused continuation of its story through card acquisition, deck building, and combat.
