About this expansion

Ascension: Storm of Souls – Ring of Life Promo is a 2012 promotional card for 1–6 players, featuring a Lifebound Construct with abilities that reward specific hero play.

Ring of Life costs 4 Runes to acquire. Once per turn, if you have played a Lifebound Hero, it allows you to gain one Rune, creating a direct connection between the card and Lifebound-focused turns.

When Ring of Life enters play, choose a faction. Your heroes of that faction are also treated as Lifebound Heroes. This effect can broaden which heroes qualify for the card’s Rune-generating ability.

  • Type: Lifebound Construct
  • Cost: 4 Runes to acquire
  • Trigger: Gain one Rune once per turn after playing a Lifebound Hero
  • Entry effect: Choose a faction whose heroes also become Lifebound Heroes

Ring of Life was given out at Game Day locations in February 2012. The card was originally created as “Ring of Gerd” for Alan Gerding as part of an elaborate wedding proposition, before being adapted for public distribution.

As a compact promotional addition, Ascension: Storm of Souls – Ring of Life Promo combines a clear acquisition cost with an ongoing Rune benefit and a faction-selection effect. Its rules text centers on the Lifebound Hero trait and how that trait can be extended during play.
