About this board game
Asking for Trobils is a worker-placement board game for 2–7 players, with a play time of about 90 minutes. Each player takes the role of a Trobil Hunter, working to rid the star system of troublesome space pests and earn the most victory points.
Players begin with one ship and place it at different locations to gather the resources needed to trap Trobils. One ship may not be enough for the job, however. By flying through a wormhole, you can create a second or even third ship, giving you more opportunities to collect what you need.
Every captured Trobil card provides victory points, but the route to those cards involves more than simply gathering resources. You can make connections to gain additional resources or spend time around the local Riffraff. The star system also offers ways to make locations more difficult for opponents—or more useful for everyone.
- Place ships at locations to collect resources.
- Use a wormhole to create additional ships.
- Capture Trobils and gain victory points.
- Send out pirates, bounty hunters, or gangsters to make areas rougher for opponents.
- Send traders and courtesans to enhance locations for everyone.
These options let players deal with unsavory characters, improve locations, and pursue the resources required for the hunt. Choosing where to place each ship and how to use the available connections helps shape your approach to the star system.
In Asking for Trobils, the player with the most points at the end wins. With room for up to seven players and a blend of worker placement, resource gathering, ship expansion, and card-based scoring, it offers a full hunt for space pests from start to finish.
