About this board game

Atlantic Storm is a World War II trick-taking game for 2–6 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Players use cards representing the German and Allied units that attacked or defended North Atlantic convoys from 1940 through 1943.

Each trick begins when the lead player selects a convoy that traveled through either the Arctic or the Atlantic in a particular year. The lead player then declares whether the battle will take place in the air, on the ocean surface, or under the sea, before playing a unit that was available in that year and could fight in the chosen environment.

The other players may pass or contribute a German or Allied unit that meets the same conditions. Once everyone has made a selection, dice may be rolled and the teams’ totals are compared to determine whether the Germans or the Allies win the battle.

  • Represent World War II German and Allied units with cards.
  • Select convoys from Arctic or Atlantic routes and years 1940–1943.
  • Fight in air, surface, or undersea environments.
  • Compete for convoys and opposing enemy ships worth victory points.

The player who contributed the most to the winning team decides how the convoy and the opposing ships are distributed among the players on that side. These prizes are worth victory points and may also provide an increased hand size, giving the distribution decision an important role in the game.

After 20 convoys have been fought over, the player with the most victory points from convoys and captured ships wins. Originally released in 1997, Atlantic Storm was later re-implemented by Pacific Typhoon.
