Autobahn: Kickstarter Edition is an economic strategy game for 1–4 players, with a playing time of approximately 150 minutes. Across three periods spanning the end of World War II to the present day, players help build and develop Germany’s motorway system.

As directors within the BundesAutobahn Organisation, you manage road construction while facilitating the transport of goods to neighbouring countries. You can also construct petrol stations to benefit from motorway traffic. Contributions to the network build your reputation and provide access to departments and scoring opportunities that support different paths to victory.

The game’s cards allow you to take actions on one of the seven main Autobahns. Careful planning and timing are essential, since you must make the most of your hand before collecting your cards back. Contributions also earn seats on highway administration boards, increasing your budget at the start of each period, while board members can later advance to more prestigious positions in the Bundesautobahn building for end-game victory points.

At the end of the second period, in 1990, German unification opens opportunities to extend the network into the country’s eastern regions. The Kickstarter Edition adds three mini-expansions that are not included in the retail edition:

• Wine Expansion: Import wine from France, Switzerland, Italy, or Austria, and potentially add Germany to your delivery destinations.
• Traffic Expansion: Traffic tokens block single-carriageway sections near busy cities until players upgrade them, with rewards for removing congestion.
• Services Expansion: Upgrade service stations for stronger bonuses and increased money yields when opponents’ trucks pass.

With network development, international deliveries, station construction, promotions, and long-term planning all connected, Autobahn: Kickstarter Edition offers a strategic challenge focused on building an evolving national transport system.
