About this board game

Autoscooter is a car-crashing game for 2–8 players that plays in about 60 minutes. Released in 1999, it challenges players to crash the cars of their opponents as often and as hard as possible.

Each round begins with all players making their choices simultaneously. Every player selects a direction, a speed, and a turn number before movement takes place.

  • Choose a direction, speed, and turn number.
  • Move the cars one after another.
  • Crash into the cars of the other players.
  • Deal with the consequences of collisions, including lost points and possible changes of orientation.

After the simultaneous planning phase, players move one at a time. The resulting collisions are central to Autoscooter: crashing another car is the objective, while being crashed can cost a player points and may sometimes cause them to lose their orientation.

The game’s appeal lies in the tension between choosing your own movement and anticipating what the other players have selected. Since everyone commits to direction, speed, and turn number before movement begins, each round turns those decisions into a sequence of potentially damaging car crashes.

Autoscooter received 4th Place in the 1992 Hippodice Spieleautorenwettbewerb. With support for up to eight players and a focus on collisions, points, and orientation, it offers a clear objective: crash the other players’ cars as often and as hard as possible.
