Avanti

About this board game

Avanti is a race game for 3–5 players that takes about 60 minutes, combining secret Power card choices, track movement, and payments to the player in the lead.

The theme sends players racing to provide concert goers and fashion show attendees with special treats before a competitor can do the same. At heart, however, Avanti is a contest of timing and position: players circle the track while those who fall behind pay the leader after each round.

Each player begins with money and three randomly dealt triangular Power cards. Every card shows a number from 1 to 7 in each corner. On a turn, players secretly select a card, orient it so the chosen value points toward the board, and reveal their choices one at a time before moving their vehicles.

• Landing on an occupied space makes a vehicle move the same number of spaces again, repeating as needed.
• After movement, each player pays the leader the amount shown on their space.
• Choosing a movement value from 1 to 3 provides a replacement Power card; higher values require using a card remaining in hand.

A round ends when a player reaches the end marker or when no one can or wants to play another Power card. The first two, or sometimes three, players on the track advance along the central scoring path, and money can be spent to move farther.

Players reset for another race with a new hand of Power cards. Avanti ends when one or more players reach the dream island; the player farthest along the central track wins. If players tie, the one who performed better in the final race takes the victory.
