About this board game

Avec Infini Regret is a two-player historical board game with an approximately four-hour play time, covering three battles from the French Wars of Religion.

This 2014 release spans conflicts in 1562, 1569, and 1587, following the struggles between Royalist and Protestant forces. Each battle highlights a different turning point, from cavalry charges and desperate counter-attacks to surprise, artillery fire, and the capture or death of prominent commanders.

• Dreux, 1562: Coligny’s cavalry began with an enthusiastic charge that threw most of the Royalist infantry into disorder. Guise and Saint-André later overwhelmed the Huguenots, while commanders from both camps were killed or taken prisoner.
• La Roche l’Abeille, 1569: After the assassination of the Prince of Condé at Jarnac, Coligny regrouped the Protestant forces and surprised the Duke of Anjou. Advancing through hedges and thickets at dawn, the Protestant forces defeated the Royalist infantry and captured Filippo Strozzi.
• Coutras, 1587: Henri of Navarre commanded his first battle as commander in chief. His night positioning, Sully’s artillery, and a counter-charge by Navarre, Condé, and Soissons broke the morale of the Duke of Joyeuse’s troops.

From the first pitched battle of the wars to the devastating clash at Coutras, the game presents a concentrated view of a conflict that continued despite major victories and defeats. The fate of armies and noble commanders changes across these three historical confrontations.
