About this board game
Axis & Allies: Pacific is a stand-alone game expansion for 2–3 players, set against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, with games lasting about 240 minutes. Released in 2001, it brings Britain, Japan, and the United States into a three-sided struggle for control.
Japan seeks to expand her empire through military might or hold off the Allies long enough to consolidate her gains. Britain and the US stand against that ambition, creating a conflict shaped by geography, economic pressure, and the importance of seemingly small islands.
The game adds new rules and twists to the established Axis & Allies system. Naval bases and air bases can turn otherwise insignificant islands into vital strategic holdings, while convoy zones give submarine packs the potential to cripple an economy.
- Three main powers: Britain, Japan, and the US face one another across the Pacific.
- Strategic bases: Naval and air bases make island positions critically important.
- Convoy warfare: Submarine packs can threaten an economy through convoy zones.
- Distinctive forces: Limited Chinese forces are difficult to crush, while Japan receives kamikazes.
China’s forces are limited, but their resistance can complicate Japan’s plans. Japan’s kamikazes add another distinctive element to the struggle, though the question remains whether they can hold back the vast economic power of the United States.
With its focused Pacific setting and new strategic twists, Axis & Allies: Pacific offers a prolonged contest over territory, resources, and survival. Every island, convoy zone, and resisting force can matter as the powers fight to determine the outcome.
