B-29 Superfortress is a solitaire game for 1 player, with missions designed to take about 90 minutes, placing you in command of a B-29 bomber during the Second World War.

Flying with the Twentieth Air Force from the Marianas Islands, you must complete a tour of 35 missions against targets in and around Japan during late 1944 and 1945. Your ultimate goal is to return home as a hero after helping bring the war with Japan to a close without a bloody invasion of the homeland.

Each mission presents a dangerous flight of roughly 1,500 miles to the target. Operations may take place at high or low altitude, by day or at night, while changing conditions and determined resistance make every sortie hazardous.

• Face fighter attacks, flak, searchlights, and bad weather.
• Deal with damage including a shattered windshield, compromised cabin pressure, or loss of oxygen.
• Cope with damaged landing gear, navigation or communication failures, and ruptured fuel tanks.
• Manage inoperable machine-gun armament and the many other problems that can affect a 100-ton aircraft.

The B-29 was the technologically most advanced bomber of the Second World War, but advanced equipment cannot remove the risks of combat aviation. B-29 Superfortress focuses on the tension of carrying a heavily damaged aircraft through hostile skies and trying to bring it safely home.
