About this board game

Bable is a cooperative card game for 2–5 players, with games lasting around 45 minutes, in which you work together to build the mythical Tower of Babel.

The challenge is unusual: you may not perform actions during your own turn. Instead, you must give orders to other players, who use your commands to help construct the tower. As the game progresses, your languages slowly change, making it increasingly difficult to understand one another.

Players always have four actions in hand: build, draw, give, and reveal. These actions are represented by symbols, because the words associated with them change during the game. Clear communication is therefore essential, but it becomes steadily more difficult as construction continues.

• Build: place a Building card in the tower by paying its associated cost in Materials.
• Draw, give, and reveal: use the remaining action types to help coordinate the group.
• Four tower layers: complete layers containing 4, 3, 2, and 1 Building cards, from bottom to top.
• Idea decks: finish each layer before its corresponding deck runs out.

Success depends on assigning the right actions to the right players while keeping track of changing language and available opportunities. Every command must be interpreted by someone else, turning each turn into a test of cooperation.
