About this board game
Battle for Armageddon is a strategic two-player wargame, played in approximately 120 minutes, that simulates the conflict between the Orks and the Imperium for control of the Imperial hive world Armageddon. Released in 1992, it focuses on the campaign for Armageddon Secundus.
Armageddon Secundus was a vital continent dominated by vast factory hive cities. These cities produced more than 80% of the planet’s industrial wealth and were essential to the Imperial war effort. If the Orks conquered the continent, Imperial forces would be starved of ammunition and equipment, leaving the planet vulnerable to defeat.
The Orks committed three whole tribes to the invasion of Armageddon Secundus—more than half of their entire invasion force. The resulting campaign lasted almost two years and became one of the bloodiest conflicts in Imperial history.
- Players: 2
- Play time: approximately 120 minutes
- Setting: the war between the Orks and the Imperium
- Focus: control of the strategically vital Armageddon Secundus
The wider war involved tens of millions of combatants and took two decades to resolve, with countless millions of Ork and Imperial warriors losing their lives. Battle for Armageddon narrows this enormous conflict to the struggle for the continent whose factories supported the Imperial war effort.
