About this board game
Battle for Kursk: The Tigers Are Burning, 1943 is a two-player game with an approximately 180-minute play time, exploring major what-if possibilities on the Eastern Front during the pivotal year of 1943.
The game invites players to consider how different decisions might have changed the course of the conflict. Could von Manstein have launched Operation Citadel earlier, or chosen not to launch it at all? What if the Summer offensive had pursued another objective?
The alternatives continue beyond the offensive. Players can explore whether the Russian counteroffensive might have been directed elsewhere, or whether it could have been stopped on the banks of the Dnieper. These questions form the foundation for a historical game focused on pivotal choices and changing possibilities.
Each turn, players must secretly select a posture. This decision shapes the types of activities they can perform during that turn and determines the number of replacements they receive. The posture system links planning and resource availability, making each turn a choice about direction and capability.
