About this board game
Battlegame Book 2: Knights at War is a collection of four medieval games for 2–4 players, with a listed play time of 20 minutes. Its second half includes full-colour A3 boards and monocolour pieces to cut out and assemble.
Most pieces are designed to stand up, while some fit into other pieces. In Tournament, for example, knights may be placed on their horses or represented on foot, supporting the changing action across the event.
- Arsouf: Recreate the September 7, 1191 battle between Richard and Saladin. Crusader knight squadrons, including the Templars and Hospitallers, must protect slow infantry and baggage trains, while Saladin deploys mamelukes, horse-archers, and skirmishers to stop them reaching Arsouf.
- Siege: Nineteen attacking knights have 40 days to take a castle defended by ten knights, boiling oil, Greek fire, and rocks. Ladders, rams, mines, catapults, and towers help the attackers break in.
- Border Raiders: In 13th-century Germany, Karl the Black must loot Duke Conrad’s villages. Archers and knights protect levies carrying their plunder.
- Tournament: Three days of jousting lead into a grand melee. Jousting uses secret target selection and simultaneous revealing; mounted knights benefit from speed, while unhorsed knights succeed through team swarming.
With its mix of historical battles, siege operations, raiding, and competitive jousting, Battlegame Book 2: Knights at War offers distinct medieval scenarios in a compact cutout format.
