About this board game
Battlemist is a fantasy board game for 2–6 players, released in 1998, with an approximate playing time of 200 minutes. Players control races that must juggle military and economic concerns while pursuing magical stars spread across the land.
The game board is made up of hex tiles, creating the setting in which players manage their races and seek the stars. Its resource system has similarities to The Settlers of Catan, providing an economic element alongside the military side of play.
Quests are handled through a card-driven system. These cards resolve players’ quests, adding a distinct mechanism to the race for magical stars and linking the game’s objectives to its card play.

With its combination of fantasy races, resource management, military concerns, and questing, Battlemist presents a broad strategic experience. The central challenge is to manage these different concerns while working toward the magical stars distributed across the game world.
Battlemist was expanded by Battlemist: The Sails of War. It was later reimplemented by Runewars, making it part of a lineage of fantasy board games built around races, resources, and large-scale objectives.
