About this board game
Beyond the Gates of Antares is a science-fiction tabletop wargame for 2–6 players, with battles taking about 180 minutes. Set in a far-future universe, it explores a time when humanity has evolved into diverse species and integrated machine intelligence has supplanted much of human knowledge and endeavour.
The setting includes the technologically advanced NuHumans of the Panhuman Concord, the ape-like Pansimians, and the feral Revers—primitive Humans driven by a powerful appetite for adventure and danger. Wherever humans go, their technology follows, from workers and protectors to WarDrones equipped with deadly weapons and resilient energy fields.
At the heart of play is a fluid combat status system. Units act and react according to their current status, while an interleaved turn sequence keeps both sides involved. Triggered actions can quickly draw rival forces into simultaneous firefights and close-quarter battles rather than leaving one player inactive for long stretches.
- Fluid Combat Status lets units act and react according to their combat condition.
- Dynamic gaming supports the evolution of the game background as you play.
- Decimal mechanics use D10 and D100 systems across battle games, skirmishes, and role-playing games.
- The game supports a backer development program for contributing to rules, setting, and campaigns.
Designed for forces of around fifty models per side, Beyond the Gates of Antares includes futuristic fighting machines, vehicles, point-defence weaponry, and human troopers. Its scalable rules can also support much larger battles or detailed skirmish games, making the system suitable for a wide range of engagements.
Released in 2015, the game presents a setting where technology and humanity are inseparable, combining evolving factions with rapid, reactive tabletop combat.
