About this board game

Biotopia is a butterfly-themed card game for 2–5 players that plays in around 30 minutes. Players grow flower yards to attract beautiful butterflies, earn points, and complete missions.

The game includes 105 cards: 100 special playing cards and 5 mission cards. Each playing card offers an important choice. Play it face-down as a flower, or play it face-up as a butterfly, bio card, or double flower, depending on its card type.

On each turn, a player takes one action. The available choices are:

• Draw a card from the deck.
• Take one of three face-up cards from the Sky, replacing it immediately.
• Play a card from hand as a flower.
• Play a card face-up by meeting its required number of flower symbols.
• Take a mission card when its requirements have been met.

Playing cards as flowers develops your flower row, while playing them face-up can help you earn points or advance your plans. Deciding which cards to use as flowers and which to reveal as butterflies, bio cards, or double flowers is a central part of Biotopia.

Players score points by playing butterfly cards from their hands and by completing missions. Once a player has scored at least 15 points, the final round is triggered and played to completion. The player with the most points at the end wins.
