About this board game

Blade Rondo is a card battle game for 1–2 players, with matches lasting about 20 minutes. Published by Domina Games in 2018, it combines limited deck construction with tactical card play.

At the start of a match, each player is dealt fifteen cards from a pool of forty key cards. Rather than using every card, each player must choose just seven for the game. This creates an important early decision: which cards belong in your final selection?

Powerful cards tend to be single-use, so building a strong set is not simply a matter of choosing the most powerful options. You must balance immediate strength with longevity, deciding how to use a limited selection throughout the match.

The relatively small card set gives players useful information about what an opponent might hold, while keeping their choices uncertain. Reading the possibilities and making decisions without total knowledge are central parts of the experience.

Blade Rondo also includes a dedicated solo mode rather than treating solo play as an extra afterthought. Twenty cards are included specifically for playing alone, giving the game a distinct one-player option alongside its two-player battles.

The game was designed by Pawn, who is also known for previous solo-only releases such as Shephy. With its compact play time, focused card pool, and deliberate seven-card selection, Blade Rondo offers a concise battle shaped by planning, uncertainty, and resource management.
