About this board game

Blorg in the Midwest is a solitaire deck-builder story game for one player that plays in about 20 minutes, using just nine cards. You are Blorg, a campy cartoon alien stranded in rural South Dakota after taking the family saucer for a joyride and crashing it.

Your goal is to find a way home before the Earthlings discover you. You might repair the saucer or signal a passing spacecraft, but being seen and reported starts a chain of events that can ultimately lead to capture and vivisection by the FBI.

Each turn, your hand represents Blorg’s current situation. It contains one location card showing where you are, along with cards for the items you carry, such as a memory eraser zappo gun. You can move by swapping your location card for another available location, or obtain a new item by combining the required icons on cards in your hand.

The second part of every turn uses a scrolling timeline to determine a range of events you must avoid or mitigate. Encounters such as meeting the farmer or his wife make each decision important, while the right combination of items can open a path toward escape.

  • One-player solitaire play in approximately 20 minutes
  • A compact 9-card deck-builder story game

With its campy alien premise and concentrated card system, Blorg in the Midwest turns a desperate journey across the empty vastness of space into a tightly focused escape story. Tread softly, choose your actions wisely, and above all, don’t get caught.
