About this board game

Border Reivers: Anglo-Scottish Border Raids, 1513-1603 is a board game for 1-6 players, with games lasting about 180 minutes. Each player leads one of six major riding families during a turbulent era along the Anglo-Scottish border.

For centuries, this fifty-mile-wide region endured war, hardship, and shifting loyalties. Border families relied on livestock for survival, and when supplies ran low, carefully planned night raids could bring hundreds of cattle and sheep across the frontier before a retaliatory hot trod caught up.

In the game, you rule one of the six Marches as a leader of the Grey, Fenwick, Dacre, Maxwell, Kerr, or Hume family. England and Scotland divided their borderlands into East, Middle, and West Marches, each overseen by a Warden charged with maintaining the peace under the system of March Law.

Yet the families most capable of enforcing order were often also the ones best equipped to raid. Build your clan’s wealth and fame throughout the reigns of Henry and Elizabeth, while competing to become the most famous Border Reiver of the age.

  • Gain victory points from successful combats.
  • Amass large herds of livestock.
  • Raise your Notoriety above rival players in the regions of the map.

Rooted in the history of the Border Reivers, the game brings a world of powerful clans, contested territory, livestock raids, and fragile law to the tabletop. In Border Reivers, survival and reputation are closely connected as every family seeks lasting renown.
