About this board game
Button Men: Beat People Up is a two-player dice-capturing game that plays in about 10 minutes, with character cards, tactical attacks, and a fight for the highest score.
Each player chooses a single character card and rolls the dice shown on it. On your turn, try to capture one of your opponent’s dice. You can use one die with a value equal to or higher than the target, or combine several dice whose values add up exactly to the target’s value.
After a capture, reroll every die used in the attack. If you cannot capture a die, you pass. The game ends when no player can make another capture, so every attack can change the dice available for future turns.
Your score combines the dice you captured with the dice still in your possession. Captured dice score the total value of their sides, while uncaptured dice count for half their total value. The player with the highest score wins.
- The Core: Downtown characters use normal dice.
- The West Side: Shadow dice make attacks upside-down.
- The Delta: Poison dice are worth negative points.
- The Hill: Rush dice give characters more chances to make the first move.
Set in Fight City, a 1950s gangster town somewhere on the Gulf Coast, the game divides its characters among four factions with different styles of play. The card-based format gives this version its own presentation while keeping the basic gameplay of Button Men; characters from different releases can still fight one another.
With quick turns, changing dice values, and distinct faction abilities, Button Men: Beat People Up offers a compact head-to-head contest built around clever captures and careful scoring.
