About this board game
Caesar: Rome vs. Gaul is a two-player, card-driven game of Caesar’s conquest of Gaul, with an approximately 240-minute playing time. One player leads Caesar and Rome, while the other controls the independent tribes of Gaul.
Set during the height of the Gallic Wars, the game covers the years from 57 BC to 52 BC. Each turn represents one year as Caesar campaigns back and forth across Gaul, suppresses rebellion, and invades Germania and Britannia. His aim is to gain wealth and fame at the expense of the Gauls, while the tribes gradually awaken to the danger of Roman conquest.
At the start of each turn, both players receive eight cards. These cards drive the action, allowing players to move their armies and place control markers across the conflict. The game uses many of the core rules and systems found in Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage, making it especially accessible to players familiar with that game.
