About this board game

Calico is a puzzly tile-laying game for 1–4 players that takes about 45 minutes, in which players compete to sew the coziest quilt.

Collect and place patch tiles in different colors and patterns, following the particular pattern assigned to your quilt. Each placement is a chance to build an attractive design while working toward scoring opportunities.

On your turn, select one patch tile from your hand and sew it into your quilt. Then draw another patch from the three available, keeping your hand ready for the next decision.

• Create a color group to sew a button onto your quilt.
• Make a pattern combination that attracts one of the cats.
• Complete your unique quilt pattern for additional scoring.

The cats are looking for specific pattern combinations. When your quilt meets one of their preferences, a cat comes over and curls up on it, adding another way to earn points.

At the end of the game, players score points for their buttons, cats, and how well they completed their quilt pattern. The result is a compact puzzle of color, pattern, and carefully chosen placements.

With its simple turn structure and tactile quilt theme, Calico offers a focused challenge for players who enjoy arranging tiles and building combinations. First released in 2020, it combines personal quilt goals with the appealing task of attracting cuddly cats.
