Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game – The Key and the Gate is a 2013 deluxe expansion for two players, with games lasting about 30 minutes.

Introducing 165 cards, including three copies each of fifty-five individual cards, this expansion explores the mysteries of Yog-Sothoth and the eerie fictional world of H.P. Lovecraft. Nearly two-thirds of its cards are dedicated to developing the identity of Yog-Sothoth, along with its mysteries and minions.

The Key and the Gate is especially suited to players who enjoy the faction’s strengths in discard, recursion, and control rooted in arcane knowledge. Its cards expand the ways Yog-Sothoth can express these themes while adding further depth to the wider Call of Cthulhu card game experience.

The expansion also introduces Yithians to the Living Card Game format and bolsters Sorcerers with new Spells. Each of the other factions receives powerful support cards as well, making the set relevant beyond its central Yog-Sothoth focus.
