About this board game

Call to Glory is a fast card game for 2–4 players that plays in about 30 minutes. Released in 2012 and packaged in a mid-sized tin box, it challenges players to collect Japanese characters with different values and turn them into scoring opportunities.

When you have two or more cards showing the same character in your hand, you may be able to lay them on the table. These sets are scored at the end of the round, making the decision to place cards an important part of play.

However, tabled characters are never completely safe. If an opponent lays out more cards of the same type, the characters of that type already on the table are discarded. Players must therefore balance the value of claiming a set against the risk that another player can collect and play a larger group.

When the game ends, players score for the types of characters they have kept on the table. This creates a compact contest of collection, timing, and pressure as players try to establish valuable character sets while disrupting opposing ones.

Call to Glory includes two variants that add different twists to the core card game:

  • Imperial Tasks: Players can fulfill specific tasks to earn extra points.
  • The Power of the Ninja: Ninja cards become more powerful.

Unlike Crazy Chicken, Call to Glory supports 2–4 players. It can also be played with four players, like Drive, while retaining two variants that Drive does not include.
