About this board game

Cantaloop: Book 2 – A Hack of a Plan is a story-driven adventure game for 1–2 players, released in 2021, with a listed play time of 720 minutes. It continues the events of the first part, following Oz “Hook” Carpenter as he assembles his team and prepares a revenge plan against the town’s biggest crook.

Explore beautifully illustrated locations, talk to characters, and search for useful items. Like a classic point-and-click adventure, the game challenges you to work out where objects belong and how they can be combined to solve puzzles that fit naturally into Cantaloop’s world and story.

The game uses an open-world structure, allowing you to decide where to go and when. Its non-linear puzzle design keeps at least two puzzles available at any given time, helping reduce the chances of getting stuck while you investigate the island and advance the plot.

  • Story-driven adventure: the narrative unfolds through a prologue and three parts, building toward the big heist on Cantaloop Island.
  • Humorous interactions: many combinations produce funny responses inspired by classic point-and-click games.
  • Non-destructive play: no game material is destroyed, apart from one sheet that can easily be copied.
  • Built-in help: a substantial help section provides up to two hints and the solution for any puzzle.

Most of the story is presented in speech bubbles, encouraging groups to roleplay the scenes together. Secrets, easter eggs, and unlockables may also be hidden throughout the experience. With its item-based puzzles, flexible exploration, and unfolding heist narrative, Cantaloop offers an interactive adventure book designed for a substantial solo or two-player session.
