About this board game

Cantaloop: Prequel is a standalone print-and-play adventure for 1–2 players that takes about 60 minutes. Set in the Cantaloop universe, it tells the story of how Hook ended up in the situation seen in Cantaloop – Book 1: Breaking into prison.

Experience an interactive adventure book inspired by classic computer point-and-click adventures. Talk to characters, explore a unique world, and combine items to solve puzzles as you work your way through this short story.

The prequel also introduces the basics—and some advanced mechanics—you will need for the wider Cantaloop experience. It offers a compact way to discover the series’ approach to exploration, conversations, item combinations, and puzzle solving before moving on to Book 1.

Choose between the clear text version, where all text is readable from the beginning, or the original hidden text experience. In the hidden text version, text that should remain unseen is covered with colored scramble text and can be read using a red foil.

The clear text format is easier to access, but you should avoid reading ahead because it may reveal spoilers. The hidden text version recreates the original Cantaloop presentation, although printing it may use a significant amount of color ink. Released in 2020, Cantaloop: Prequel provides a short introduction to the series and Hook’s back story.
