About this board game
Captain Park’s Imaginary Polar Expedition is a scavenger-hunt board game for 3–7 players that takes about 45 minutes to play. Set on a highly un-representational map of London, it sends players searching for proof of adventures in places such as Africa, Everest, or wherever their expedition is supposed to have taken them.
The board is filled with the best places to find the things needed to support your story. Collect Artifacts, Photographs, Anecdotes, and whatever else can help prove that you have been on an extraordinary journey. While you gather your goodies, you must also keep hiding, because Captain Park is wandering around looking for you.
When you have collected enough and have been hiding long enough, return to the Gentleman’s Club to brag about your adventure. The scoring rewards both the contents of your collection and the way you assembled it, giving the expedition a strong push-your-luck feel without leaving the bounds of its playful imaginary premise.
- Score points for the things you collect.
- Earn bonus points for having different kinds of things.
- Gain more bonus points for being the first to go somewhere.
- Receive an additional bonus when your destination happens to be in style.
With its whimsical London setting and unusual expedition theme, Captain Park’s Imaginary Polar Expedition turns the city into a stage for evasive scavenging and boastful returns. Published in 2002, it offers a compact 45-minute contest for groups of 3–7 players who enjoy collecting varied finds, chasing bonuses, and trying to stay ahead of Captain Park.
