About this board game

Carnival of Monsters is a card-drafting game for 2–5 players, playable in about 45 minutes. Compete to become the newest member of the Royal Monstrological Society by assembling the most magnificent menagerie of monstrous beasts.

Across four Seasons, draft cards and collect sets of Land Cards that let you capture and display strange, exotic Monsters. Magical lands offer opportunities for discovery, while your small stipend can help fund journeys and bring additional experts into your enterprise.

Careful planning is essential as you build your carnival and work toward a profitable, spectacular collection. You can hire talented Staff to help run your operation and pursue Secret Goals that reward your particular ambitions.

After the fourth Season, aspiring monstrologists present their collections at the Society’s annual banquet, the event known as the Carnival of Monsters. Points are awarded for displayed Monsters, completed Goals, and the Gold Crowns earned during the game.

The player with the most profitable and spectacular carnival wins the competition and earns the chance to join the Royal Monstrological Society. With its blend of card drafting, collection building, monster hunting, and varied scoring opportunities, Carnival of Monsters turns the search for exotic beasts into a lively contest of enterprise and ambition.
