Cat in the Box: Deluxe Edition is a quantum trick-taking card game for 2–5 players, with games lasting about 40 minutes.

In this unusual twist on trick-taking, the color of a card is not defined until you play it. Before the hand begins, hypothesize how many tricks you will win and record your bid. Then, as cards are played, make careful decisions about which colors to claim.

Each color choice has consequences. You cannot claim the color of a card with the same number if that color has already been declared. Break this restriction and you create a paradox, making every play an important part of your plan.

As you play your hand, place tokens on the community research board to represent your choices. Connecting large groups of tokens can earn even more points, giving you another objective beyond predicting and winning tricks.
