About this board game

Chai (Deluxe Edition) is a tea-merchants’ game for 1–5 players that plays in about 60 minutes. Combine tea flavors and additives, fulfill customer orders, and earn the most victory points to become the best tea merchant.

Each turn, choose one of three actions: Visit the Market, Select Additives, or Reserve a Customer. You buy and collect ingredients while specializing in rooibos, green, oolong, black, or white tea.

• Gather the base tea, tea flavors, and additives shown on a customer card.
• Complete an order from a customer card in your hand or from the visible customer pool.
• Place the required ingredients in an empty tea cup, then flip over a tip for a coin bonus.

At the end of each turn, a player may complete one tea order. If all cups are filled, the thermometer round tracker moves up one notch. The game ends after five rounds of fulfilled cups; once the final order is completed, the other players finish their last turn so everyone has played the same number of turns.

Victory points come from customer orders, money, and awards. The player with the most points wins, making each ingredient choice and customer opportunity part of the race to finish as the top tea merchant.

The deluxe edition adds exclusive content to the tea-blending experience, including 10 deluxe exclusive cards, five deluxe superfan-inspired cards, five wild tea ingredient tiles, three unique customer tips, and three new ability cards. Together, these additions give Chai (Deluxe Edition) a broad selection of components for fulfilling orders and pursuing victory.
