Chariots of Rome

About this board game

Chariots of Rome is a competitive chariot-racing board game for 2–8 players, with races lasting about 120 minutes. Set in Rome in 10 BC, it brings the thunder of quadriga—four-horse-drawn chariots—to the grand Circus Maximus.

Each player controls a unique charioteer competing on the giant track for two or more laps. The objective is not simply to handle dangerous corners and drive skillfully: the race is also a contest of timing, aggression, and opportunism as drivers battle for the laurel wreath of victory.

• Race around the Circus Maximus in a dramatic ancient Roman setting.
• Use your whip and ram opponents to hinder their progress.
• Play with individual charioteers or teams of two.
• Let the gods—and the tens of thousands watching from the crowd—add their influence to the race.

For a team game, up to four teams of two chariots can compete, with each team representing a different Roman faction. The Red, White, Green, and Blue factions bring the spectacle of the stadium to life beneath the obelisk that Caesar Augustus erected in tribute to his conquest of Egypt.

In Chariots of Rome, every turn brings the possibility of a brilliant advance, a dangerous obstruction, or a crowd-pleasing collision. Strap into your chariot, ready your whip, and race through the Circus Maximus while the gods watch to see who will claim victory.
