About this board game

Check Your 6! is an air combat simulation for 2–12 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. Set in the aviation era of 1925–1947, it can portray aircraft from the period, including the early jets.

Movement is planned ahead and resolved simultaneously, creating a format that is especially suitable for larger groups. Players must consider their intended maneuvers before seeing how everyone else moves, making positioning and timing central to the action.

The game uses a maneuver template similar in form to those found in Blue Max and Canvas Eagles. This provides a clear way to represent aircraft movement while keeping the focus on aerial maneuvering and the decisions made by each player.

  • Air combat covering the years 1925–1947
  • Aircraft from the era, including early jets
  • Planned, simultaneous movement for multiplayer play
  • Individual pilot skills as an important factor

Check Your 6! can be played with airplane models in a range of scales: 1/72, 1/144, 1/300, or 1/600. It can also be played with cardboard counters, giving groups flexibility in how they represent their aircraft.

A hexagonal mapboard forms the playing surface, while the maneuver system helps bring the aerial setting to life. The design emphasizes that a capable pilot matters as much as, or more than, the machine itself—a principle captured by Chuck Yeager’s observation: “It’s the man, not the machine!”
