About this board game
China: The Middle Kingdom is a four-player historical strategy game covering Chinese history from 403 BC to the present day. Across 24 turns, each representing roughly 100 years, players guide several countries simultaneously as China rises from its feudal age.
Every country has its own objectives and situations, creating a broad strategic challenge within the larger historical setting. Players earn points for achieving goals such as conquering particular provinces, and the player with the highest score at the end wins.
The game unfolds on an illustrated map of China, supported by more than 400 separate army pieces. Its sweeping timeline includes over 40 countries and peoples, major Chinese dynasties, the arrival of European powers, both World Wars, and the Japanese invasion.
- Designed for four players
- 24 turns spanning from 403 BC to today
- Several countries controlled by each player at the same time
- Objectives including the conquest of specific provinces
- Over 400 army pieces and an illustrated map of China
China: The Middle Kingdom continues through the modern political situation, with the Communists in Mainland China and the Nationalists in Taiwan. This Britannia-like game presents an expansive historical contest in which changing countries, peoples, and eras all contribute to the final score.
