Chock-A-Block

About this board game

Chock-A-Block is a 2024 board game for 1–5 players that takes about 30 minutes. Players build colorful apartment blocks, add neighbors, and create feature chains while filling a 4×3 building.

Each player begins with two double-sided block cards in hand. On a turn, place one card into your apartment building, looking for a block of four or more spaces of the same color. At least one space in that block must show a “For Rent” sign.

When you complete a qualifying block, take a neighbor from the display and add that neighbor to the block. Neighbors have no color, but each shows a pair of features drawn from cats, flowers, birds, and underwear. Those same features can also appear in other rooms, creating opportunities to build connected chains.

• Complete same-color blocks of four or more spaces.
• Add neighbors with pairs of recognizable features.
• Claim scoring tokens for chains of 6, 8, or 10 matching features.
• Score additional points from unscored chains of at least four features.

The game ends as soon as everyone has finished a 4×3 building. Players then count their points from scoring tokens and any remaining unscored chains of at least four features.

For a solo challenge, Chock-A-Block includes the vicious “AutoBlock” mode. Whether playing alone or with up to four other players, the puzzle is to fit blocks into your building, meet the requirements for adding neighbors, and connect features into valuable chains.
